Cover page
How cover fields, art, and the properties sidebar work together on page 0.
Not a typing page
Page 0 is the cover. It is not a contenteditable body. The format toolbar is disabled here. A hint says: click text to edit; use the sidebar for design.
Click a field on the cover to select it. The properties sidebar opens the Cover tab and shows that field’s text, font, size, and color. You can also type the same text in the sidebar input — the canvas stays in sync.
Cover fields
These are the selectable text roles:
- Title — also the book title in Book info and the library.
- Subtitle
- Author — default credit is Kifuliiru Lab unless you change it.
- Badge — edition or series chip.
- Language line — default Kifuliiru • Kiswahili • Français • English. A package
languageslist can fill this on import. - Footer — publisher line (Kifuliiru Lab · Wekify by default).
- Free badge — optional chip; visibility is a switch in Properties when the cover (not a field) is selected.
Clicking empty cover chrome (not a field) can expose accent color and the free-badge switch. Clicking a field always wins for editing that line.
Background, artwork, and frames
Clicking a background, artwork, or frameis not a text edit. Those clicks open the Design dialog on the matching Cover library tab so you can replace or place art. Placed artwork layers also open Artwork.
Frame geometry (inset, weight, gap, text padding) can be adjusted without leaving the editor — Properties → Frame. In Design → Cover, Background and Artwork colors sit in the right inspector. Start another cover from that same Cover section. Browse finished covers on /covers.
Readability
Busy backgrounds can hide Kifuliiru title type. Select the cover readability control (or use Properties) to choose a treatment:
- Off — no treatment.
- Material blur — frosted backdrop on each text line.
- Gradient scrim — soft pill behind title, subtitle, and labels.
- Type lift — shadow depth for busy backgrounds.
- Ambient soften — light vignette plus backing on each block.
When a mode is on, a strength slider (about 15–85%) sets how strong the treatment is.
Cover PNG
Export cover PNG in the header is shown when this cover page is selected. The hosted browser can rasterize a PNG in the tab; the desktop app writes a file. Details are in Save, export, and actions and Export & desktop.
