Books library
Keep several books in the browser, switch between them, and import packages.
One canvas, many books
The editor edits one book at a time. The library is the list of books this browser knows about. You switch, create, or import — you do not open two manuscripts side by side.
The Books section sits at the top of the left sidebar: a title dropdown, then + New book. The name in the list is the cover title.
Switch books
Open the dropdown and pick another title. The current draft is saved first, then the chosen book is restored — pages, design settings, and cover layers included.
The trigger shows the current title only. The section label above it is Books.
New book
+ New book always creates a blank book and selects it. Titles are made unique automatically (Untitled Kifuliiru Book, then … 2, and so on).
It does not reuse a pristine untitled draft. If you want a second book, you get a second book. Design → Cover → New cover also adds a book that starts on the cover — two pages is enough.
Import
Use Import book from the Books dropdown, or from the File sheet on a phone. Choose a .ked.json file, a legacy package, or a .ked-cover.json.
A book package becomes a library entry unless one of these is true:
- The current book is still a pristine blank (never typed, never designed).
- You are completing a desktop or generator handoff.
In those two cases Studio replaces the open book instead of adding another slot.
Import is also how Kifuliiru generator packages arrive. book_type then drives suggested Looks.
Remove a book
When more than one book is in the library, each row in the dropdown can be removed. The last remaining book cannot be deleted — there is always one canvas.
Removing a book deletes its local draft. It does not delete a file you already saved.
Local storage
The library index and each book draft live in this origin’s local storage. Studio writes the open book about twice a second while you work, and again when you leave the page. Reloading the tab restores the last book. Another browser, private window, or cleared site data will not see those drafts.
If the browser is out of space, you will see an error. Save the .ked.json and remove books you no longer need. That file is what you move, share, and open later.
